Abie's DooWop Taxi
Lou Rallo's "The Big Beat" Real

Lou Rallo I remember hearing the Mills Brothers, Nat "King" Cole, and Hank Williams on the radio before I was old enough for kindergarten. When I was almost eight, my father brought home an armload of 78's from a friend at a radio station. Among them were a few Ink Spots records and a Delta Rhythm Boys record which I absolutely loved. In seventh grade I bought my own first 45's at the urging of a classmate from grammar school, Wayne Stierle. I've been a collector ever since.

My musical taste is varied but it's the group sound that I truly love. I'd had some previous radio experience when in the early nineties Bill Swanke, the original host of the Big Beat Show, asked me if I would like to take it over. The show has been on WRSU since 1981 and I have been the host since 1994.

I play 'Rhythm n' Blues, Rock n' Roll, sometimes Gospel and sometimes Soul'. It is truly an honor and a privilege to be able to share the relatively unknown group harmony sounds to the show's listeners. Thanks for listening.

Listen to Lou Rallo Live Thurs 8pm EST.
