Abie's DooWop Taxi
Pete Chaston Doo-Wop Show (1997-2004) Real

Pete Chaston in the KCXL studio Pete Chaston grew up in New York City and started collecting doo-wop records in the early 1960s, when he frequently visited the legendary Times Square Record Shop. In his adult life Pete worked as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, moved to several states through his career, and eventually settled in Kearney, MO.

In the 1990s Pete managed to get his own weekly doo-wop show at KCXL 1140 AM, a local radio station in nearby Kansas City. The Pete Chaston Doo-Wop Show aired every Saturday, and ran for an impressive eight years, until 2004, when Pete's regular time slot was preempted by a sports show. Although these live shows have come to an end, many shows from this period have been archived, and now you can listen to some of them right here.

The shows on this page are edited and partially reconstructed segments of live shows that were originally recorded on audio cassettes, so the audio quality varies. These shows have previously been published on another site.

If you would like to comment on these shows, send Pete Chaston an e-mail, and tell him that you heard him here on Abie's DooWop Taxi!
